The host , Charles Hodgson, has an uncanny way of presenting word definitions in a manner that keeps me coming back for more. These discrete podcasts make great listening while walking or biking. An engaging and always interesting podcast. If you never realized how intrinsically interesting words could be, this is a show for you.

Great Word of the Day Podcast! Excelent production, daily updates, a charming and eloquent host: this is what podcasting should be. Nearly every day Charles Hodgson publishes a short, witty and entertaining look inside the secret life of one word. Highly educational and very much recommended

Awesome podcast
(Ander6)

This is a staple of my daily podcast listening, always interesting, kind of relaxing to listen to and educational to boot ! I love it. It is conveniently sized at just a couple of minutes a time, so you can have it as a small snack of podcast when other things just won’t do.
(Russell Jenkins Fearn)

Just right! Charles Hodgson doesn’t say all his words the same as I do (which is, of course, the right way (wink), but he certainly knows about them. Daily episodes are short, 1-3 minutes, and each one is about only one word. There’s no heavy production, it’s just him talking about where English words came from, when they popped up, and words they’re related to. Like ‘flip-flop’, or ’smithereens.’
(whapa)

A great way to spend a few minutes. Mr Hodgson’s dry wit and gentle delivery entertain, inform, and calm me down a bit after a hard day’s work. Podictionary is a free treasure I found a few months ago and it keeps on giving. If you are a word lover and a lover of history of all kinds, this podcast is for you!
(hamilton_uci)

Very interesting show. Charles Hodgson provides a very interesting podcast about words. In every episode, he gives a short narrative about a common word, including its history, interesting facts, and related words and stories. I also like this podcast because it is short, and a good break from the other 1/2 hour or 1 hour podcasts that I listen to.
(ssafron)

Excellent podcast. I have stumbled upon some good podcasts and some pretty bad ones. Podictionary is very good. I like the author’s choices of words to explore and also the production values seem quite high. Easy to listen to; I’m regular from now on.
(Mikeyman)

This is my favorite podcast! I never miss it.
(louknits)

Long time listener. Keep up the good work, Charles.
(ddutson)

Word lovers will love this. This is THE best podcast for word lovers, clear and fun.
(comixmcj)

This is a great podcast; I enjoy listening to it every day, as it enhances knowledge of the lesser-known events of today as well as yesterday. Charles Hodgson puts together some great research and knowlege and translates it into plain English–as well as some other languages–for the rest of us.
(l_c_bickford)

Well done to Charles Hodson. Podictionary is consistently brilliant!
(cscleparis)

Charles Hodgson is my hero. Looking up a word’s etymology is one thing, but Hodgson tells you an entire story and history, often amusing and thought provoking. Language comes alive on this well-researched podictionary.
(surfinglibrarian)

I get so much out of your podcast. Just hearing your intro is enough to make me all relaxed and happy.
